postheadericon Open House at The Equine Connection

Mother Nature supported us on Friday afternoon with gorgeous blue skies and sunshine. By the time the open house started at 3pm the weather was perfect. Guests started by enjoying home cooked treats and the soothing sounds of Sherrie Erickson and her guitar.

Of course, the herd quickly grabbed everyone's attention by simply being themselves. At 4pm I began by introducing my associates, the horses. To prepare for the experience of equine-assisted learning, the group took a short meditation walk around the property to connect with self and feel the nourishment nature has to offer.

We had a great time with three equine-assisted learning exercises. Guests participated and were able to experience the many benefits offered by equine-assisted learning.

I also had a wonderful new experience myself. My old friend, Landor, jumped. It was the first time I had ever seen him jump. Although he was an international jumper in his younger years, he is now very arthritic. He was very proud of himself and pranced around the arena showing us all how good he felt. He really let us see that the group had a positive affect on him, and he enjoyed our guests immensely.

The open house ended as the sun was going down with a warming bonfire. Thank you to all who attended. Everyone contributed to a very enjoyable evening.

postheadericon Women's Wellness Weekend

We had a lovely time at the Wellness Weekend. Another thoroughly relaxing day in the company of like-minded women. Plenty of time was spent with the horses, who, as usual, helped us gain new insights into ourselves. A new element was the meditation walk, done in silence. We talked about how we rarely, if ever, walk in silence, focusing on the present and the impact of nature on our senses. The walk was a wonderful way to connect, and really get in touch with each of our inner worlds. After our art collages were finished, we hung them on a wall. It was impressive how each woman's personality shone through her art. The food was once again very yummy and satisfying. I look forward to the Spring Wellness Weekend.
